Hello, and thank you for visiting Unsaid Voices.
My name is Dawa. I’m the person behind this project.
I was born in Nepal and have lived in the United States for most of my life. Like many immigrants, I came here chasing opportunity, a better future, and the chance to support my family. I built a career as a software engineer, got married, and started my own family. Life was good, but it also became very busy.
Even though technology has made staying in touch easier than ever, I slowly drifted from the people who mattered most. I still called my parents, but not as often as I should have. There was always tomorrow.
Then one day, my mother wasn’t feeling well. Our last conversation was filled with my frustration instead of the love and concern I truly felt. I told myself I’d call her back when things settled down. I never got that chance. A few days later, she passed away.
Since that day, not a single morning has passed without me thinking of her. In every temple and place of worship, I quietly say the same prayer:
Wherever you are…
Whatever form your journey has taken…
I hope you are at peace.
I hope you are not suffering.
I hope you are never thirsty.
I hope your belly is full.
And I hope you know that your son thinks about you every single day.
Unsaid Voices was born from that ache, the longing for one more conversation and one more chance to say the words we left unspoken.
I know I’m not alone. Many of us carry regrets, gratitude, love, and questions we never got to share. Whether because of loss, distance, busy lives, fear, or pride, some words simply never leave our hearts.
This project exists to give those words a home.
Unsaid Voices is a public archive of real human emotions captured in voice. It is a place where anyone can call (803) 336-5408, speak honestly, and leave a message for someone or for themselves. No names are required. Just your voice.
Each month, we carefully select and share some of these voicemails so others can listen. Some will make you smile. Some may bring tears. All of them remind us that we are not alone in what we carry.
Whether you come here to leave a message or simply to listen, we hope you find comfort. Maybe you’ll hear someone say what you’ve never been able to. Maybe you’ll feel a little less alone.
Some conversations never happen.
Some words remain forever unsaid.
But here, your voice can still exist, and someone will hear it.
Welcome to Unsaid Voices.
Thank you for being here.
